Imagine it was 1991...

Gorilla Monsoon: "aw man, homie... Savage's upper petuberance is playing tricks on him"

1996...

Mr. Perfect: "y'know McMahon, Hunter Hearst Helmsley is like Memphis Bleek, he sees that it's time to come up"

2000...

Jim Ross: "DX is gonna make Rock lose his mind up in here, shades of DMX"...

They did make country music references.

I have to disagree. Crews has nothing unique about him... and hes not good in the ring bro.

Ill give u an example of what I mean when I say hes not good in the ring. Jericho is nowhere near as athletic as he was BUT he is miles ahead Crews RIGHT NOW in the ring, because his selling, trash talk, comedic timing, and storytelling and entertainment value are better than anyone doing it right now other than let's say AJ or Cena. He can wrestle ANYONE and make you care. Control your emotions based off of his movements. THATS BEING GOOD IN THE RING.

Crews is a zero in all of those departments, he doesnt make you care or get engaged. So he's not good.

Cool moves are a means to an end, but athleticism doesnt mean your good in the ring.

First off you comparing a 20 year vet in Jericho to Crews who literally just entered the WWE system a year ago (Summer 2015) :heh: Compared to how long most guys stay in developmental, that's not a very long time. You're nitpicking nothing. Let Crews cook, you're trying to make him sound like trash which he isn't. I get it if you find him underwhelming or not exciting but Crews has a great workrate, great precision in the ring, and a lot of potential to improve and potentially become a main event talent. He's also very coachable (If you saw Breaking Ground, he was absolutely struggling in promo class at the beginning but he's a smooth talker now. And also before his debut match, Triple H was telling him to come up with a new carry-and-slam-type finish and he made up his spinning powerbomb thing on the spot) Crews is also younger than most indie cats who came through PC developmental which also explains the gap (Not to mention he's 3 years younger than Corbin). Objectively there's nothing wrong with Apollo Crews, it's what's been missing that's the concern.

Also Crews consistently puts on solid matches (5 minute popcorn ones at that). He's actually carried Corbin to quite a couple, take this one:

3:38 - Knows how to pop the crowd. That might not sound like much but less experienced guys don't always know how to generate a good crowd reaction from what they do in the ring, while Crews knows how to get the crowd on his side (he also gets some chants in this match)
4:50 - Good psychology, recognizes Corbin did the same spot earlier at 4:04 and ducks it the 2nd time
6:33, 10:56 - Great sells and good finish that made Corbin look like a crafty opportunist while keeping Crews strong
6:39 - Takes bump like a champ to generate a reaction from the crowd
7:03, 7:50 - Good facials
8:49 - He's not all backflips and hurricanranas btw

Oh and also, he's a safe worker who's not doing high risk crazy bumps with him or his opponent every second but can still get a reaction

People who are shytting on Crews better not be changing their tune a year or so in time when he finds his stride, is all I'mma say :sas2:

how is he good if you dont care when hes in the ring, Thats not being good ring, doing flips and power moves dont make you good my nikka. I hate that misconception.

My point is you're trying to say Corbin is better than Crews and you're listing the reasons why Crews isn't good in the ring, but you can't really do that when Corbin hasn't exactly mastered the things you've listed either.

You'll remember Corbin throwing Crews out the ring and yelling "go back to ROH!" more than youll directly remember any match Crews has put on since signing. Other than maybe his debut. Being good in the ring TO ME, is getting the crowd to buy into the situation presented to them at that moment.

Corbin TO ME, is better at getting me to care about whether he wins or loses, more than Crews does. Crews to me is a wrestler that would be better suited to be a straight man/hot tag to a charismatic tag partner.

Taunting and adlibbing in the ring has nothing to do with in ring work. That's character work all the way, and I agree with you in saying Corbin trumps Crews in that department.
