More Details on WWE's Interest in Lucha Underground Talent, Viewership for WWE HOF on USA Network, WWE Attendance Figures

As noted, WWE is interested in top Lucha Underground star Ricochet, aka Prince Puma, and Ricochet recently made it known he will not be accepting anymore indy bookings after June, which has lead to speculation he might be WWE bound.

According to The Wrestling Observer, Ricochet is not the only Lucha Underground talent WWE is interested in, and they may pitch talent contracts to various LU talents as they have a long break between LU seasons. WWE reportedly wants at least 5 Mexican talents for the Global Cruiserweight Series, which begins taping in June. That is around the same time as the current season of Lucha Underground ends, as LU talents are prohibited from appearing on TV for other promotions while a current LU season is airing.

HUGE News Regarding The Future Of Ricochet - Changing The Questions

Ever since the announcement of the Global Cruiserweight Series, sepculation has been flying in regards to who WWE would attempt to pick up. A few names have already been announced, and Kota Ibushi made an appearance at the last NXT Takeover Special, so he’s virtually a sure thing for the series as well, but one name that’s been continually mentioned is Lucha Underground and NJPW star Ricochet AKA Prince Puma. Many people wondered if WWE was going to look to pick up the “Future of Flight” and after some news that’s been released today, we may have our answer.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Ricochet will no longer be taking independent dates as of June. With the GCS starting in July, this means that there is a very, very strong possibility that WWE has signed the young high flyer. We will know more within the coming days as the story develops, but if WWE did in fact pick him up, then the GCS just hit a whole other level. It’s also worth nothing that if he is not longer taking dates it’s likely that his involvement with the company will extend long past the summer tournament. We will give you any additional information as soon as it becomes available.

Ricochet headed to WWE soon?

Ricochet has told indie promoters that he isn’t taking any booking dates after June. He has been rumored to join WWE NXT, and it appears that he will be joining the company. However, one source told Dave Meltzer that WWE NXT may end up being where he eventually winds up but not his immediate move. Ricochet currently works for Lucha Underground as Prince Puma. He can get out of his deal with Lucha Underground after the third season, and the third season finishes taping in mid-May.

It should be noted that his deal with Lucha Underground wouldn’t allow him to go to WWE until six months after the season finishes airing, which would be late 2017 but it would be hard to see a situation where Luch Underground keeps him from signing with another company since he would not be paid. WWE is able to enforce non-competes because they pay wrestlers to sit at home for 90 days after they are released. That is not the case with Lucha Underground
