NBC News has a new article up today covering Stephanie McMahon representing WWE at this week's Beyond Sport United conference in New York City.
Stephanie, who missed Monday's RAW in Anaheim, California to speak at the event, told NBC OUT that WWE is committed to LGBT inclusivity and inclusive storylines in their television shows going forward.
"Throughout my life I have grown up knowing gay [WWE] superstars and executives," McMahon told NBC OUT backstage at the event. "It's always been accepted, but now it's about getting that message out there."
"We will integrate LGBT characters into our programming ... and I do think there will be an opportunity to integrate some of those storylines in the near future."
With help from their new partnership with GLAAD, WWE is working on making sensitivity towards the issue a priority within their creative teams.
"We've had GLAAD come in and speak to our entire writing team and give a whole tutorial on sensitivities, the right words, the wrong word [and] why those words matters," Stephanie explained. "I think that with their guidance and support, we will be able to portray that [LGBT storyline] appropriately."
