My Kinect can't watch me as its pointed at a wall. It can hear me but i use it for voice commands.

Why are they all saying stop listening tho?
because "stop listening" is a command to tell the xbox that you are finished using voice commands for whatever you were doing.
here's an example of how it works on the dashboard
Say "Xbox select" (command that tells the xbox you want to control it with your voice through kinect)
After saying that you will see a bunch of words in green, these are the commands you can say and the xbox will act accordingly.
The words in green are either apps or games and if you don't feel like telling the xbox to open any of them just say "stop listening" and the voice control will end returning all the command words to their normal white color and you are back to using the controller to maneuver around the xbox.
