If you have cable all of this shyt is not really a selling point.

People really hype about putting a game in split screen to catch the end of an NFL game? How many people really can't just pause the game and switch TV inputs by pressing a button?

Who needs to do all that when Xbox does it in 3 word command.

*xbox snap espn*
*watches replay of Lynch trucking some trash DB*
*my face when witnessing the gridiron murder while capturing B flag in COD :ohlawd:
*football game turns to trash*
*voice commands videogame full screen*

Didn't even take my hand off the controller :whew:

Imagine watching the NBA finals and snapping in IE to load up the game series thread in the coliseum? Watching the game with the auto updates would be straight comedy. No more missing back-to-back moments while lookin down at a laptop.

I know YOU have no use for it. But not everyone has 4 consoles, an HTPC, laptop, etc etc.

That's cool. Problem is that Microsoft is charging $500 for something gamers (their target audience) are not happy with.

Other folks will look at this like :ehh: but i already have a roku/appletv/something else that i watch tv on and didn't cost me $500

I just don't get the point. Why in the world would I want to watch this thru my system, when I can just watch it on my cable box? It woulda been cool early last year and before when I didn't have NFLN or Red Zone, but now I do. I just don't get the whole "TV thru your Xbox" thing. Never have. It's absolutely pointless.

Also, showing the multi-tasking is another pointless feature IMO. What warm-blooded American male is gonna switch away from RZ (of course I boycotted the NFL last year, so who am I to talk)? And twitter and scores on the side of the screen? That's cool. Let's add a couple more things to make the main window even smaller. Color me unimpressed. :manny:

I have friends , a lot of them some times I watch TV while waiting for them to get on. Actually I do it a lot. Its gonna be really dope for basketball season, snap it to the side :blessed:.

Another thing. the snap feature can be used in the middle of matchmaking, it will tell you when a game is about to start.

What spins? There are more people watching nfl games on Sundays than there Are playing uncharted.
You're post mentions hardcore NFL fans in comparison to hardcore gamers.

You finish by saying when it's on Letterman, MTV, Spike, G4TV (NFL diehards are watching these channels?) everybody is going to want a One.

Bro. This app is not going to make any "hardcore" NFL fan go out and drop 500 dollars on this machine when they more than likely have League Pass and cable already. And if you think "hardcore" NFL fans are going to be playing video games on Sunday's instead of actually watching games FULL screen then you're a damn fool.

Who needs to do all that when Xbox does it in 3 word command.

All of that is great, but honestly it's not really a selling point. If you have a receiver with all of your shyt hooked up to it. You can switch inputs with 1 button press. I don't even use voice commands on my phone but I'm supposed to be overly excited about using it in house to control my console?

I'm keeping it 100 right now. All of the shyt is cool, but MS is banking on a lot of "extra" stuff that a lot of people might not even bother using at all.

Ok, you can watch TV, and have your headset on while you're waiting in Party Chat for your friends.

You send them an invite for the Chat, switch inputs to watch TV, then when they're ready to play, they join the Party Chat and since you have you're headset on you know they're ready to play.

The shyt is so unnecessary that I don't understand the hype at all.

No you can't the mic will turn off the longer you're in idle. Also i'm not always in "party chat" when waiting, instead of having to get off the coach switch inputs i'll be right there for when my family/nikkas get on to play the game. as a grown man i have to spend my time wisely, this system will give me the ability to use it at the same time.

I'll say this...

MS is the only streaming box that lets you stream live ESPN broadcasts. Only other option is PC/Laptop. I haven't seen the Apple TV's feed for League Pass, but I know that the 360's feed has a much better picture than what's on the Roku. I'll give them that. But it comes back to the fact that you can get these services else where. If you're really diving into buying a One because of the "extra" stuff you're fukking up because an HTPC is the obvious choice.

I was big on the 360 streaming apps before I built my PC.

Console is aimed at Gamers with familes who like entertainment how hard is that to get through your thick ass skull. when the price drops it'll be aimed at Familes who love to game as well. Tablets cost more then $500, the price is solid for what it comes with.

This isn't really the case though.

MS is pushing this as a system that non-gamers would want to buy to be their media hub in the living room. I'm not even sure this joint is aimed at gamers more than it's aimed at entertainment. It's kind of split down the middle.

the issue is you shouldn't have to get all these services everywhere. I want to see on my coach watchtv, game, and play with apps at the same damn setting. not sit on my coach go across the room grab my tablet, find lost remote to turn off the game turn on the roku. too much work and too much time wasted when it can all be there for me.

they showed 17 exclusives, some just console that is factually false, 1 billion dollars for game development doesn't back that up for you

The Passage of Time
There are probably more hardcore nfl fans in the world than "hardcore gamers". This is a killer feature. When they start showing this stuff on david letterman and MTV, spike, g4tv, ect. Everybody is gonna want a X1 :blessed:

Are you forgetting they showed this at the XBOX reveal and claimed that 8 million people was watching, which resulted in them capitulating that E3 would be about games games games. In other words, it was demonstrated for the masses and after E3 a week passes and PS4 dominated them in Pre Orders. They have a tough road to hoe at this point, and I ain't even pimping.

This is some nitpicking shyt.

You need a better setup if you have to get up and switch inputs. One button press can get me to my Roku, PS3, or 360. Too bad the system doesn't support bluetooth headsets, because you wouldn't worry about the mic cutting off when you're idle.

it's not, when i'm spending 400-500 bucks i expect my console to be a basic entertainment device.

why should i have to do that, if my consoles could play DVDs in 2000 i'm suppose to waste a 100 on a shytty roku device on a different input in 2013. nah fam:rudy:

That would be a negative if the gaming side of things weren't stacked with worthwhile features.

Fortunately they are.

:what:

Get a damn receiver :wtf:

How big is your damn couch to where you can't sit your phone/tablet next to you? You can't fit anything else on your couch besides yourself breh?

It's like yal don't know we're in 2013. I can control my Roku and my 360 from apps on my phone/tablet. I can switch inputs on my receiver by pressing 1 button on it. I can have multiple devices running and switch between them by pressing 1 button. Hell when the NBA season was going on I would have the Roku streaming a game, the 360 streaming, and have a game on my tablet streaming.

They spent their whole reveal talking about TV.

You forget that already?
