These things need to be connected to the net to work properly, and MS (sony too) can revoke your game playing rights remotely.

I doubt they'll be modded. Notice the PS Vita hasn't been properly hacked yet.

but PSN has. remember last year that big hack...apparently that was the hackers getting the software codes for the ps4. in Brazil you can have games installed.

Geohot works for Google now ( I think ). Sony hasn't pissed of the hacker community so nobody feels the need to hack it ..

Those hacks usually come from people who want to do legit homebrew. The piracy follows them.

I seriously doubt it happens especially with out required soldering.

The benefits you lose from not being connected are not worth it, which is why there is no big push to hack them outside of being able to say you were the one to do it.

With live and ps+, you get free games, online multiplayer, easy access to patches, subscriptions, apps and more. Are you really that broke or impatient that you can't buy your games at a discount?

They basically took the Steve Jobs model and it is working well for them.

The PS4 already been hacked. All you need is the know how and a raspberry pi
Xbox, they already got to the Nand portion from what I heard, but there are still some obsticles that are in the way for now.
