Through all the residual animosity towards Microsoft, I think a lot of this is being missed. After all the talk of being for the gamers, it's Sony that has taken the more closed "anti-consumer" stance.

They got that price down to only $400 but its obvious they plan to make that money back through forcing people to spend money on their other media services. It's also obvious that from a functionality standpoint the PS4 in some ways is lagging behind the PS3 let alone the X1

It's funny to watch Sony stans defend this shyt(which I'm sure y'all will do in this thread) after months of standing on principled arguments about big bad Microsoft trying to take advantage of the industry.

Now the stans are attacking anyone that calls Sony out for their bullshyt(which I'm sure y'all will do in this thread)

not being able to sell your games is as anti-consumer as you can get, and i'm glad that M$ changed their stance on it. You should never restrict the consumer's freedom. Just bad business...

However things like mp3 support/cd support are all trivial stuff .. more people just want more things built into their consoles. It's only natural. But those things do not hinder your enjoyment of the console. It can still do the most basic thing and that is to play games. And it's been proven that PS4 is the superior of the two consoles and in order to get the most complete in game experience.

You said it yourself functionality is more important to you. I'm not gonna knock you for that. But it doesn't give you the best gaming experience. PS4 does. So while you xbones will be too busy talking to your console and taking pictures of your living room, us PS4 users will be enjoying the real next-gen.

Its funny how people are so against that but want more triple titles. You realize that its going to happen this generation? It actually helps Sony more than it does microsoft. All those studios need every sale they can get. They are indy contractors with Microsoft so their losses don't result in any loss of business. For sony it will hurt them. This is the beginning of the end for New AAA games. Its not even worth the risk. Especially first party exclusives.

Your car is a vehicle to get you from point A to point B. Some people like to listen to music in their car. Some people even like to watch movies in their car. Why get a car with a gps installed. Just get an external one and listen to your ipod.

I'll take a Ferrari without air-conditioning, CD player, radio, etc. for $40k over a fully loaded 3 series at $50k.

Well for one thing people who play sports games such as NHL or The Show or NBA 2k or wrestling games care about the mp3 issue with PS4 and it's hardly bullshyt to them if you take a look at operation sports or other sports games websites. Just because you don't care doesn't mean nobody else should care. All gamers aren't clones of you and some may find issues with things you don't care about. Because you have no concern for it hardly makes it bullshyt.

People have been playing CD's and other media on their consoles since the origanal PSX. In fact the ability to play extra media is one of the things that have made the playstation brand so succesful.

And once again graphics are only one part of the picture. There isn't a big enough gap where games will be fundementaly different, so the difference in power only matters is online fanboy arguments. For the lower price point ps4 is missing out on a lot of features and functionality.

For example if bf4 runs at a higher resolution on ps4, but the online experience is more stable on X1 then which version is truly better?

I personally don't think it's "anti-consumer" nor did I think Microsofts practices were. In reality they are all in it to make money and they will come up with creative ways to do so. As a consumer we have the choice on whether to support a product or not.

I'm just trying to bring that reality to light. People get so caught up in the "console wars" that they miss this point and start assuming these companies care about them. They don't. M$ and Sony are not at each others throats as much as gamers want them to be. In fact there's plenty of evidence that they are working together this time more than ever.

My problem with the situation is when people start attacking industry people cause they aren't repeating what you want them to. When toys r us can't even post a video without the comments section being overrun with fanboys, then we have a problem that needs to be addressed. And these aren't kids doing it, they are grown ass men who otherwise would seem like rational people.

In my opinion the fans are what's holding gaming back from getting the respect it deserves compared to other forms of entertainment. The accusations of devs/journalists being paid off or being lazy, or trying to hurt consumers just makes us all come off as immature @ssholes. People don't realize that they are hurting and disrespecting the people that make gaming a reality.

And I could be wrong but most of this seems to come from the Sony side of things. I don't know what it is that makes their fans so combative, but it seems its usually them doing all the mudslinging, while ignoring some of the same practices coming out of Sony. Shjts dispicable at this point, and hopefully it will die down once the consoles come out

I can't believe so many people on a hip-hop site have never felt the need to play music and a game at the same time. I remember back in the day we would have to make compromises, like having the game audio come from the TV speakers, and the music over the receiver. having one device to mix it properly was a blessing

Nah don't think so. But I think it would be wise if you shut your dumb ass up, and maybe just maybe stop and consider why people would prefer the audio in a sports game to come through the system at specific times instead of muting and playing a clip of audio for however many seconds to minutes and then unmuting and playing again. Oh and of course they have to chose the audio clip to play when the game would load it for them, and sometimes randomly play songs for a break in play. Yes, my good man, take your own advice, shut your dumb ass up, and stop to consider how other people game. If your dumb ass is even remotely capable of thinking things out. I question if it is.

I'm simply saying that the PS4's negatives are small potatoes compared to the Xbox One's negatives. I'll take the superior system with the superior graphical horsepower, and the cheaper price over whatever Xbox has to offer. Just like I'll take a Ferrari cause its a Ferrari over some inferior car that has all the gadgets and features that are irrelevant in the grand scheme.
