"barely" can be interpreted a few ways. but what games truly require kinect? I know that's a high bar, but my point is that when games do use it, it's usually just some tacked-on 'lean', or voice command feature (and voice commands only require a mic, so it's not something that's unique to kinect). it seems the only true kinect titles are the fitness stuff, and the kinect sports game. those titles are cool, but not for everyone
The games are rolling out. There some very interesting ones being teased now.
On a system level, the kinect makes a huge impact on how you navigate the OS.. Kinect has yet to prove its prowess as a hardcore gaming device, but it certainly does prove its worth in other ways. Also you have to remember the average gamer isn't some hardcore dude living in a dorm/apartment by himself. A lot of us have friends/family and the kinect is great for family time.
Statements like "nobody wants/uses the kinect" are just false. People talk about how VR is the next wave but in reality if OR finds half the success kinect has they will be lucky.
I do agree that Microsoft should eat the price of though. Drop to $400 and the kinect would be a great incentive to get an X1
