You see these type of things said and you just know Microsoft wasn’t originally going to keep COD on playstation. That 10 year deal probably threw an entire monkey wrench into their plans.

They definitely need COD exclusivity to help their console sales but it doesn’t seem like that will ever be on the table at this point.

No. I think MS is a parasite who's accelerating the industry towards an area where they can have complete control. You only gotta look at what they're doing elsewhere. I want them to fail for that reason.
What's to stop Sony from doing the same thing without any viable competitors

Sony and Nintendo have been in the gaming console business 30/40 years and haven’t done it yet

They have a long history in video games," he said. "Nintendo's not going to do anything that damages gaming in the long run because that's the business they're in. Sony is the same and I trust them. ... Valve's the same way. When we look at the other big tech competitors for Microsoft: Google has search and Chrome, Amazon has shopping, Facebook has social, all these large-scale consumer businesses. ... The discussion we've had internally, where those things are important to those other tech companies for how many consumers they reach, gaming can be that for us.

All you really have to do is listen to what these people are actually saying. The same thing Microsoft was warning everyone else about big tech entering gaming two years ago is exactly what they represent. Sony and Nintendo depend on gaming, they can’t do anything to jeopardize the market.

Microsoft can get away with completely disassembling console gaming and modeling it to whatever their parent company needs it to be. They have less at stake than valve, nintendo, and sony so they are the ones that should have the least power.
