This gen they are about even, but Cross-Play can destroy Sony if Microsoft does it right.

No idea. I'm just going off the info I have now. If specs remain the same then price will obviously be the main factor for consumers when deciding between the two if one is priced significantly less than the other. If Sony changes course and beefs up the hardware and thereby raising costs, then it's a specs war. It's really not a difficult concept.

The PS1 and PS2 were the weakest mainstream consoles in their generation and still won. so was the Wii. The PS3 had a cumbersome hardware configuration that lead to it having inferior 3rd party games and still came in 2nd.

The specs aren't what's important clearly. It hasn't been since the mid 90s that the system with arguable the most power won out a console generation until the PS4 won this one. That means it's been 2 decades since the system with the most powerful specs won.

I would say the Xbox will struggle to get to 4K at 30 FPS 1080p 60 fps should be easy on either though. A 6 teraflop card is a 980 ti class card and it struggles to run Rise of the Tomb Raider @ 30 fps and that's paired with a 6700K which is likely far better than anything AMD is gonna provide Microsoft.

The PS4 Neo sounds like it'll have a GTX 980 class GPU in it.

I think a bad precedent is being set here with this whole midway through the generation, we'll put out a souped up version of the console shyt.
1. Asking nikkas to buy a new console when they just bought one 3 years ago
2. No way will these things be priced at the sweet spot
3. Either games will be made to take advantage of the new hardware or whats the point. In effect ostracising day one buyers

This is false. nikkas has ALWAYS been talking about games. Every major event you saw the "lists" of games people talked about. In the process, the Larrybox was and is an inferior hardware compared to the PS4. Saying that people talked about hardware only is basically spreading the lie that people only buy PS4 because it's the more powerful system which is a half lie. Pricing, positive mindshare and hype off of exclusive games is what made the PS4 what it is today. Better hardware merely was icing on the cake and it was noted every time a multiplat game came out because admit it, it's fun to talk about the "larry"box.
