It's a "family" affair

Since its announcement, there has been some confusion over the details of sharing your Xbox One game library with up to ten "family members." Mehdi couldn't give comprehensive details but he did clarify some things.

For one, a family member doesn't have to be a "blood relative," he said, eliminating the extremely unlikely possibility that the Xbox One would include a built-in blood testing kit. For another, they don't have to live in the primary owner's house—I could name a friend that lives 3,000 miles away as one of my "family members" Mehdi said. You'll be able to link other Xbox Live accounts as having shared access to your library when you first set up a system, and will also be able to add them later on (though specific details of how you manage these relationships is still not being discussed). The only limitation, it seems, is that only one person can be playing the shared copy of a single game at any given time. All in all, this does sound like a pretty convenient feature that's more workable than simply passing discs around amongst friends who are actually in your area.

I'm in this sounds dope as fukk. they just need to give us more then 24 hours.

That's pretty much what I expected, I have 2 brothers that play games a lot and this could be big for people like us.

OAN: Breh do you see ms doing something similar to steam being that drm is being implemented? I read on another board(take it with a grain of salt) that they are considering lowering the price of games because of this. Hopefully we could all have a legit discussion about xb1 with no trolling for once.

when they say only one person the question is does that include the primary owner or is it besides the owner. if the primary owner and one other person can play the shared title at the same time that's interesting. that means you can go half on games with someone and play against them.

I wonder about that too. Most likely just one at a time, but it would be dope if they allowed the primary and one other to play at once.

:laff: um no. check their track record. games on demand cost more than you can buy them at a store.

I said take it with a grain of salt but honestly with the architecture at hand and the policies and backlash, they'd be stupid not to at least consider it.

doubt you can play the same game at the same time, they can access your account though

all though techically you could play the same game when you're offline and the secondary is online.

I'm guessing this goes for digital downloads as well. Sounds like an improvement to me. Yeah the 24 hours and used game restrictions suck, but the benefits are looking to outweigh the restrictions.

They don't have to be related. It's actually like the gold family plan they have now.

prices will drop faster if the majority buy digitally.

Too early to say yes or no right now.

It seems like they are trying to handle all games the same. Like at the reveal they said all games would be under the "games" tab. There is no seperate categories anymore, and with day one digital downloads there is no reason to believe the games in the online store will have different restrictions.

They also talked about being able to sell digital licenses online, that would be great, especially if it applied to all games.

Or maybe these are all features the publishers can implement individually on each game.:ohhh:
