I Dont Have Too Many Friends Who Game Though Unless Its Sports Related, Hopefully I Make Some New "Family Members" Here On The Coli :lupe:

no, what will happen is you will have XBOX friends. you see those fools playing a game you never purchased but thought about. shoot, let them put you on the list. now you're previewing the game, you could decide to make that purchase so you can play as you see fit once you own it. or you can wait til after the guy on your friends list beats the game. then he wont care if you play it all the time.

What about the customers who have quality Internet connections?

Is it fair that their experiences are being held back by the minority of users who don't have quality Internet service?

:dahell: how are they being held back? cause they will not be able to take advantage of the cloud or some bullshish? lol cmon man

Besides what really is the purpose of always on? what to be able to play your game from anywhere via the cloud?. just does not seem a fair trade off to me. If i could just bring the disc with me that would be the same thing right :krs:

It's about resources. With a totaly online console and cloud support from dedicated servers, developers can concentrate on fleshing out online experiences as opposed to trying to accommodate offline gamers and create their own online system.

The second part I disagree with. Yes you can carry your disc with you, but you cant just walk around carrying your entire games library with you at all times, nor can you install a game and run it directly off the hardrive or share titles with friends/family remotely. In my opinion that's a good trade off seeing how I have not gone a day without the Internet in a long time.

This argument doesnt hold water simply because there is no reason that MS doesnt give you a choice in choosing whether to install or not other than the fact that they are greedy and want control. Simple

How would they stop people from installing the disc on multiple systems?

The people that wish to install games from the disc would have to deal with the check in. If it was downloaded digitally, or if the disc is in the tray, then no check in.

That would still allow people to play the same game on multiple machines at the same time.

It would open them up for a bunch of security issues and fukkery, just so they can accommodate a small portion of the gaming community. In reality 90% of next gen games will probably be worthless without a connection regardless of what system it's on. Look at e3 , the most impressive games are centered around online connectivity. It makes a lot of sense to build a console that is centered around these experiences as well. Devs gravitate torward "standard features" making the Internet a "standard feature" for the X1 will make devs confortable with concentrating on connected experiences.

No, I stated that if you wish to install the game to hdd, then you opt into the online portion.
