hip-hop has decentralized - there are plenty of brilliant mainstream and well-known "underground" music coming out:
Little Simz, Nas, Earl Sweatshirt, billy woods, Curren$y, Noname, Mick Jenkins, Apollo Brown, Danny Brown & JPEG Mafia, Recognize Ali, and Killer Mike have all released fantastic albums this year - albums that would have made year-end lists 30 years ago
but there is substantially more music, more regional, more niche, and less popularly determined by radio and a small group of music outlets
