Nobody wanted gangsta music in the 60s, 70s or 80s. 90s is when dark music got pushed heavily whether it's suicidal emo music or prison culture gangsta music. This is what record labels wanted us to hear. nikkaz 4 life is still one of the most ignorant albums ever. Exactly the kind of album jerry heller wanted from NWA.

I'm seeing west coast gangsta rappers and their fans on social media coppin all types of pleas over this.

Spent decades proudly telling everyone you "started this gangsta shyt!" but the minute you get called out for for the negative, destructive bullshyt snowballing into modern rap.. It's "Schooly D and Just Ice were doing it first!".and "rap is reflection of the streets." Most of those 90's gangsta rappers were not rapping for social commentary purposes. :mjlol:

Here come the Shady Aftermath minions to cape

Special Ed is 100% right. We had an empowerment movement and they adulterated it with themes of celebrated violence that would lead to more imprisonment. We could of had a generation growing up on empowerment. We got a generation trying to live out a soundtrack to gangsta rap

It doesn’t matter if these conditions existed prior. This promoted it

The cool thing would’ve been “what did you do to uplift your community?” And “what did you do to fight the powers that be” … that would’ve been the cool thing, instead it’s “how quick would you be to empty a clip at the slightest disrespect”

And you can’t even see why that would be or what agenda that serves

Regardless of your age, I’m sorry you’re still too young mentally to see that

Yep.

Prison Industrial complex ate like nothing before in history. Too many brehs threw away their lives to be "gangstas" and "real nikkas" created by Eazy E and Dr. Dre.

Didnt professor griff say that nwa was pushed to replace public enemy. Same kind of big sound. Diff agenda. At first at least.

Yep. He can go into HOURS of proper lecture and break down how gangsta rap undermined the black power movement in Hip Hop. It went full apex after the Malcolm X movie, and record execs by the end of 1992 wanted all forms of black empowerment rap off of airwaves altogether. They did get their wish, and by late 1993, it was all but gone. That, as well as the crime epidemic within the crack era, made the likes of Minister Louis Farrakhan have the Million Man March in October 1995 to counterattack it.

fill me in?

I honestly didnt really care too much for NWA. I liked Eazy solo joint tho. Cube of course...

is the consensus that NWA was trash after the first album? I need to go back and listen to their albums.

Back then culture thief level pr killed you.
as an actual hiphop culture mecca based draw. In that a lot of west coast artist gangsta rap taboo style artist draw ire. Yet the artist that draw ire were apart of artist purposefully Making bandwagon mecca envy culture theif based studio gangsta rap. [Meaning taboo admin and skill lacking culture thief style rap]. No west coast artist who was culturally essential had an issue gaining a draw or east coast production or pr vice versa. Only the culture thief style artist. Showing apparent mecca envy had these issues. Nwa had issues in the mecca and with culture based drawing sectors. From poor admin with cube, amd seeing that easy was a fraud in every way possible.
as a rapper and label owner. Which eventually lead to their drawing demise.
after revenue grabbing on n4l and 100 miles & running the ep. Becoming the mtv white gangsta rap sellout group.
after cube went solo and pr explained his admin issues with nwa. Which also resounded back to doing away with the mca way.
from sugarhill all over again. Cube then went to the bomb squad. whom Dre copied along with Erick sermon style production. To make nwa even more sonically driven after ruthless also acquired above the law and cpo. This is before their stories had issues we as the public knew about. All we knew in real time is that heller and easy.
robbed cube which was not supposed to occur in the new school way of thought. especially after sugar hill being run as the mca way offshoot, the background of crash crew biting fantasy three and the ill effects of the roxanne wars. This is before cube fully souled't out on Westside connection.

In this wrinkle of time.

Nwa was done as a cultural draw.

Back then if you violated the cultural aspect of hiphop and the new school way of thought edicts. You were done as a draw almost immediately, period.

Nwa just so happened to be mtv/viacom and 20/20's darling group. Where Back then if you were black.
you had to get court order like michael jackson to get played according to draw on mtv.
this is where heller comes in to sway things in perception.
to have the video debut of soc on 20/20 but banned on mtv but still nwa crossed over to mtv.
Even later had a whole special to debut express yourself.
Mtv by then Expanded to yo mtv raps. As back then after the death of video station channels shut down on regular tv. video vibrations was the only outlet nationally to view the current black videos. [Also not sure if the rest of the country. other than chicago and conneticut had the college radio shows. Along with videomuisc boX by ralph mcdaniels. This is before video music box the box later went national from out east and wpuld later play the video to soc uninterrupted as well.
that debut the current rap albums in length. until later played soc in rotation as well un-nterrupted in the nineties
before censorship and parental advisory labels.
after prime time when rap was not played on prime time.]

back then though.
Showcasing admin issues in artistry.
for an art house was a immediate death knell in hiphop culture as far rap business backothen. Before rap and hiphop were segregated from creating drawing parrallels for each other. as things are now movinf end
Your drawing days in the culture of hiphop. were probably over from selling out anyway.
So when nwa the commercial impact hit. Making ruthless records runs the world in to a thing. Meaning all the guys e40 would make the song I practice looking hard for also became cliche sellouts.
Where n4l is rhe white people's and regi nikka gateway in general for rap music.

Where all they were and know is the idea :

Ruthless records runs the world.

Plus it was the largest original maybe organic commercial dominant thing in all of music tbh. till our detriment and eventual end.
As no one has or will best the idea. or manifestation.
we all live in, or under.
of ruthless record runs the world.

So he conviently didn’t diss Ice T cuz that’s his OG. Ice T was before NWA tho. People always pushing agendas

Ice t had already set up how to navigate the idea of being a neutron rap act.
in a world populated by the hierarchy of what would then be nationally marketed later as la gang culture gangsta.

Which also was misappropriated and perverted even more from the prison industrial economy. As I feel white people troll us being black with bloods and chips. Lol at us being their mockery made version of the ragin colts and ku klux klan. Which ironically come from government funding for community groups.

It is all a big circle jerk of misappropriation gon completely fukking awry at this point.

I can point to significant period of time and space. Yet too much time as gon on to stop the capital driven wrecking ball that is the prison industrial economy mindstste and mentality in America.

It all boils down to this. Cats can't let go of the rappers they idolized when they were 16. So they feel the need to always defend them 15/20/30 years later. :francis:

Rap's fascination with losers and the unskilled..
What is funny is.

Ask these nikkaz to talk about this artist album or songs or skills and you get no words. Let them be a serial killer c00n or sellout. They will find some bullshyt to talk about. That serves us nuffin but bullshyt.

At the end of the day. They talk about these guys and it is never if they are great emcees. It is like they wanna be their rapper they stan 'girlfriend and always need a nikka beside them. While not knowing or discussing nuffin that the nikka can really do on the mic. The shyt disgusting.
