I was happy for Xzibit for Restless cause that album put him on to the masses... but at the time I was pissed about it cause I felt like the nikka kinda sold out. Hate aside Restless is a banger though... just not the Xzibit album I was hoping for after the first two at the time.

I think X was mad at Dre for not really putting effort into the album other than exec producer credit and this album was gonna solidify him commercially which would had been a good follow up to Restless.

Restless was such a dope album from start to finish. Still play a lot of the tracks today.

Yeah Restless was a hell of an album, hasn't aged too bad either when you listen back. Man vs Machine was a big step down though I dunno what happened there. Weapons of Mass Destruction had some joints but it was over for him then.

He's still dope though, his recent album "Napalm" had a lot of heat.

Weapons of Mass Destruction was pretty bad. I really don't know how it ended up that way either. You're right about Napalm too. I rock with a lot of stuff from there

I don't think Restless put him on the map. I think Restless was just the album that he di while he was peak popularity. he was already famous for Paparazzi and then What You See is What You Get. Those 2 tracks were in heavy rotation during their years (96 & 98). Some might say that those were bigger than X. I can't get into Restless though. It sounds like generic west coast album #_____. Him going toe-to-toe with Em on that Dre track is what increased his mainstream America fanbase. But he still wasn't a superstar. He was not a superstar until Pimp My Ride, in which people didn't even realize he was a dope MC.

Xzibit used to be one of my favourites...he wasn't the most lyrical emcee, but he was solid and damn consistant with dope rhymes.

"Sometimes I wonder if it's all worth my while, Xzibit stay versatile with a million dollar lifestyle...
and I can feel it as a child growin' up, the nikkas that was real and the nikkas that was scared as fukk...
that's why Xzibit only roll with a chosen few...
yo, you ain't really real, I can tell when I look at you..."

Flawless beginning to a song....

Xzibit was far from "mainstream" famous though. He needed that Dre/Snoop cosign to take him to a higher level of popularity...had he stuck with the Likwit Crew, I doubt he'd ever be as famous.
