I did. Kinda against my better judgement, but I'm 39, and remember that New Years, and the whole Y2k moment vividly. And I like coming of age/his school movies, Can't Hardly Wait, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Wood. And The kind of teen horror trend like The Faculty and Disturbing Behavior.

The first 30 min are mildly engaging, the 90's references come rapidly and overwhelmingly, but the story of two teen boys and a first love barely centers itself in any kind of reality. The stars are engaging, but the lead was pretty flat. The movie didn't have a lot heart. It was all kinda just references, but it worked on a small level. Standout Kyle Mooney as a stoner, very on point of certain early 2000's and now mannerisms, I know dudes like that that sold hundreds of pounds of weed.

The second half is shakier. The gore is fine. The movie gets thinner and thinner and tonally reverses too many times, so that everything loses all impact. The main point against the movie is that like a lot of modern cinema, doesn't really create a world. The camera work is bland, the photography is flat, the writing never feels authentic, as hard as it is to recreate teen dialouge. Had it slowed way down, treated it characters with more humanity, which is probably a huge rewrite and 15 million dollars, it could have been great.

I saw a movie called Didi this year that got that kind of story a lot better. As an example of a comedic coming of age in a suburban town.

Setup bland, gets worse as it goes along, most of the characters got to act black in some way other than the female lead.

The female that is clearly a play on the female that hung out with Seth Green in Cant hardly wait is actually taking this movie seriously. The rest is a joke unprotected by a bad script. Lead female probably just happy to keep her clothes on.

The 90s nostalgia comes heavy and fast but not enough to save this movie. It will be ignore, right next to the Joker movie on Max

If you've seen Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowlarama you know what to expect.

The most egregious thing is the last 30 minutes is literally a shameless plug for Limp Bizkit. I dare you to prove me right. I had to see the credits to check if they were producers or something.

Caught it earlier today. It wasn't as fun as I was hoping. It never really had a lull or anything. Just didn't feel they really had enough fun kills in this. The soundtrack felt in line, seeing the old AOL and other 90s tech was fun. Felt they failed the moment when the "Break Stuff" montage started. Did get a couple of good actual lol moments for me.
