The similarities is maybe vocally...on some tracks...but that's it.

Decent flow. Nice voice. Trash lyrics. And I like most the songs I heard from him so far but he needs to start switching it up cause they mostly sound the same. I'm seeing more diversity in song structure from similar artists like Fivio.

The lyrics are wack, bro. I don't see why we now can't call lyrics wack just because it's some drill or trap shyt or from a song that gets nikkas hype. LA has twice the murder rate NYC does and has 1/6 the black population meaning it's a way higher chance of you getting killed by a street nikka in LA than a street nikka in NYC. It's hoods everywhere of course, but NYC is the closest to the safest major city considering demographics and crime as any other city.

If the numbers out there are being tampered with then it wouldn't be any different for any other major city.

Especially somewhere like LA that has been trying clean up it's city image due to the gang culture.

A quick google search will tell you that Brownsville, East NY, Crown Heights all those 73rd Precinct neighborhoods are some of if not the most dangerous in NYC. So I guess you'd have to compare their crime rates to known hoods in other cities not city to city. Look at the safest big city in the country whatever that is and there's probably a neighborhood there that does all the shooting and murder and the rest of the city is very safe. This has nothing to do with whether these rappers are really with what they rap about or even condoning that if they are.

I understand that. You know how many negs I've gotten and names I've been called on here because I say that some of that super wordy and complex shyt just don't always makes for good music? Go to any Lupe thread and see how many times I be getting shytted on for calling him wack.

The thing is that Pop just not good. He's popping shyt but it just ain't clever. It sounds like bars any regular non-rapping ass nikka might spit when he's on yak and fukking around drunk rapping/snapping with his homies. His one liners ain't even hard or really witty. They just amateurish. And I wouldn't even call these bars wack out necessarily if I heard good rhymes from him on other tracks but I never heard him spit good bars. You don't have to have Big Pun level bars. It can be simple and be potent. For example look at YNW Melly's Murder on My Mind. Hes not being super complex . His rhymes on there are mad simple but them shyts is fukking visual and hit hard. Pop Smoke's music just hit different because of his voice, the beats and the context (nikkas know alot of that simple ass shyt he raps about stems from BK gang shyt).
