Drake is one of my personal favorites of the new gen. But we cant escape facts here.

Every major star "falls off" , it usually happens harsher to those who have a complete stranglehold on the game. Those type of artists who define eras and times.

Cats like

LL Cool J
DMX
50
Ja
Nelly
Wayne

etc.

Drake's success is in line of all of these fellas, and you know how America is, we build you up to tear you down. Once the public is "done" with you. You are pretty much finito.

Ya think Drake is gonna be able to bob and weave this like how old man Hov? Will he fight against it and struggle for half a decade like 50. Or will he accept his fate and understand his time is finished. And most importantly, who will be the successor to Drake. Who is gonna take the throne from him? And when is this shift gonna happen?

PS: It aint Kendrick :comeon:

I'd consider myself someone who thinks Drake is pretty good but don't get carried away.

yes it just depends what type of fall off. ja rule fall off? weezy fall off? who knows but his time is coming, just depends when the females get tired of him. i ran into many that said they didnt like his new album cause he was "whining too much". we will see how his next album sell and if people get tired of the light skinned keith sweat

drakes persona doesnt fit the culture of hip hop at all. he's probably been the least respected of the people you listed that were at the top

and yes kendrick will probably replace him and is more likely to be accepted by the culture because he is actually from the culture and his music fits the mold of it more

Musically? Who knows

Popularity wise? Definitely.. Jay-Z was able to survive because he was never hands down THE man while Drake right now and for the past 3 years has pretty much been the biggest rapper bar-Eminem

Thing with Drake is he has yet to do anything different from any of his other music, all of his albums have been relationship driven with singing and rapping mixed.. people are gonna get tired of the repetitiveness real soon

He's pretty smart, so he can remain relevant in the game for some more years. The great thing about Drake is that unlike a lot of today's artist, he doesn't over saturate himself by releasing music all the time.

The best example of this was 2012 when he featured on all the big songs and that made people really anticipate some new Drake. He basically stayed dominant during 2012 without dropping a single song.

So, like anyone it's possible he will fall off but I think he will be smart enough to leave the game before that time comes. I honestly think he will only drop 2 more albums and call it a day.

Yea thats the secret to Jay's success, tho his stans will never admit, Jay never had a peak like Drake,50 or Wayne. In hip hop/America in general you cant be HEAD HONCHO for too long. Before the people start to turn they back on you.

Happens in sports as well.
