I'm not that psychotic and anti-social about it but yeah I kind of agree. I live in the suburbs and about half the houses are owned by Blackrock and used as short-term rental properties so there's no point in trying to get to know them. The rest of my neighbors are mostly older (late 40s+) white, Black and Hispanic couples with no or adult kids. (I don't have kids either).

One of the community mail boxes is in front of my house so I'll say hello or give a little head nod if I'm in my garage or something but that's about it. Maybe if my neighborhood was younger and blacker I'd feel differently but this definitely isn't a place where everybody knows everybody and we do things together, which is fine. People tend to get a lil too nosy and familiar if they think they know you enough and I've already been bitten in the ass by that once before.

My neighbors also give me a heads up if they saw a snake in their yard because they always see me gardening. I’ve also gotten some free pots and soil. So it’s good to “know” them

Nuff times I forget to close my sunroof and my neighbor sends me a text to say “it about to rain and your sun roof is open”

Or he holds a parcel for me until I get home.

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone.

A neighborhood is basically a village. Be antisocial in a village, brehs.

I can name every single family on the block of that I grew up on.

Some neighborhoods are not designed to be communal, and so, I can understand in those situations. Many subdivisions have no side walks or have homes setback and large lots.

But the Leave it to beaver neighborhood that I grew up in, it's impossible to not form relationships with the people that live around you.
Same! My parent have been in the same house for over 25 years. Most of the neighbors have been there the same amount of time. "The cul-de-sac", as I refer to it, is tight. I grew up with all of my neighbors' kids and its dope seeing them during the holidays and smoking a J in the driveway like we used to.

Word spreads quickly too. Two summers ago, my pops fired the cac landscaper for being late and lazy all the time. Within a week he was fired from every house in the cul-de-sac. My pops then found a breh who did a spectacular job on the lawn and got him hired at every house. He comes through every 2 weeks, cuts, trims, and treats everyone's lawn in a day, and gets that bag. Extra when it's time to trim up the hedges. Breh went from a Chevy pickup with a rickety mower to a Ford F450 and all John Deere equipment in two summers :wow: . Hit my dad with the :myman: when he pulled up all-green with the JD hat to match back in March.

The power of community :wow:
