starting off with a fenced off product/service in this domain is not a recipe for success.

meta threads has more users than bluesky but it's more closed off than bluesky which is why they have better organic growth. early on when threads was first available they were sending cease and desist to projects offering unofficial api to threads.net basically crippling develop of third party projects. theres probably more than a 100 major projects building on bluesky api and at protocol. threads is more open than twitter to non registered users but less open than bluesky. some people like to lurk before participating. i lurked thecoli before I joined.

this site needs an update. so many other sites were created and gained momentum since the last upgrade in 2022, mastodon, lemmy, threads, bluesky, etc.
no native embed support for any of them. xenforo even updated their media plugin to support more video sites.
i've got like a 6 userscripts just to make this site usable. copy/paste formatting is messed up, links aren't automatically underlined, outdated embeds from various major news sites.

This right here.........

I try to use other mediums as much as possible but quite frankly it's hard to either find a site that will embed OR find another site that posts the content that you're even posting in the 1st place.
