I called a dude a c00n once and he did one of those dry man-cry faces. Looked like I crushed his spirit.

When I took chem in college. The professor’s aide was some African dude and every time I asked him for help he copped a weird attitude. Like, someone white or Asian would ask him and he wouldn’t trip. When I ask he would smack his lips/roll his eyes. Not the woman herself but her grands/parents:
We were having a discussion about the guys in our building that hit on us. For some reason Hispanic dudes were attracted to me and the AA/Black dudes were attracted to her. She came in from a smoke break and told me that a Hispanic dude was asking her about me - I commented that I wasn't attracted to others. The convo segued into our perspective dating histories - I prefer BM, period. She prefers BM but will date "The right 'other' dude..."
Then she said that Jamaican Grand/Parents prefer white and/or nonAA as mates/spouses for their children.
Well, my mouth moved quicker than my thoughts because I heard myself say, "What a bunch of c00ns!"
She gave me the cold shoulder swiftly afterwards. It kinda pricked me b/c she was the only other BW in the entire company.
However, she was hired after me and I knew she'd need me first. So, each morning from her it was a dry "Good Morning" & few sporatics "Good Night." She showed everyone else all her teeth, tonsils, rainbows & sunshine.
No more chatting throughout the day, ordering lunch, chatting on the way to the parking lot, etc.
A few days later the bipolar Director & Mgr were micromanaging, demanding and driving her mad...she cracked...crawled to me. I was gracious.
Subsequently, we discussed my c00n comment but I didn't apologize. She seemed not to appreciate my sentiments but seemed to understand my POV.
She was back to herself again although the dating topic never ever came up again. She gave me the biggest hug when I left that job for a better opportunity.
