Any experiences working for a Black boss? In college, I worked at my school library for about 2.5 years. My boss was a Black lady in charge of the library. It was great because she hired people of all races but she also made sure to put Black people on by giving us jobs. The staff was mostly Black, with a few Hispanics and even fewer Whites/Asians.
At first she seemed distant as she would feel you out and kind of see what your personality and work ethic was like. And then once she got to know you she would get closer to you. Me and her clicked so well because she completely understood all my struggles as a young Black male. She used to give me all kinds of advice and motivation
That job had to be one of the best working experiences of my life. To have a kind Black boss like that and then to be surrounded by friendly coworkers that also were Black
After awhile it didn't even feel like I was at work, it just used to feel like I was getting tasks done along with family. I had to leave the job behind though after graduating college since me and my fam were getting ready to move. My last day there was mad sad, all kinds of hugs and emotional goodbyes.
My boss ended up giving me one final hookup which was her letter of recommendation that helped me get the job I have now in Cali
Nothing but love and respect for her and my former coworkers
More of us need to experience what it is like to work amongst our own people, instead of working in awkward situations for different races.
