Damn NEAR $20?!?! :heh:

Those spots have taken years to get CLOSE to $20. Meanwhile these new age IG friendly plates/spots ain’t never been that low they START at $20 n up.

i don't bother ordering oxtail anymore. last time i got a $20 plate it was like nothing. it's never enough and over priced. even if you buy and cook yourself. i've just about given up on it. i get some oxtail pieces when i get the red pea soup down by my place and just reminisce on when you didn't have to spend $50 to get a decent serving.

they said thats enough to feed 30. So at $700 thats $23 per plate. Not actually that bad of deal.
I would have to assume those pans are deeper than they look in the pic.

Broken down like that, good quality catering for 20-25 a head is not that bad. Good quality. I'm not paying that for fried chicken

Thats my main thing. If it can actually feed 30 its a good deal. But i would want more variety than just double chicken and double mac. reduce those to singles and add an extra protein, plus and extra side and people wouldn't be hating as much. A pan of pork chops or something and a pan of sweet potatoes or something like that.

That’s why I was generous with rounding up. I factored in oil, ingredients etc. her labor costs are literally 350 bucks, 50 percent mark up

How much do you think her labor is worth?

It's a moot question anyways. If someone decides to pay her quoted price then her pricing is justified.

I’ve seen a couple break downs of pricing and some are paying themselves $30-$40 an hour for labor. Thats more than head chefs at chain restaurants. I get it they’re probably doing multiple jobs at once, but paying yourself that with no over head (relative to a restaurant) while using the cheapest ingredients does not justify it.

Then the head chefs are getting underpaid.

Now for the quoted prices you should expect dope ass dishes. But $30-$40 an hour is reasonable for cooking.

In a few months when those tariffs hit this going to be about $1900.

Tariffs going to make it so that the price you pay for catering is the price you used to be able to buy a used car for.
