I think someone once told me that, reading the story of George Lucas, star wars kinda broke his life. It definitely caused the end of his marriage. So it's not improbable he wanted a clean break.

I ain't seen it yet the last Jedi yet I'm bout to watch the bootleg copy online tho cuzz some idiot in a YouTube comment section spoiled it for me but from what I've heard they really are ruining star wars from the way the Jedi are being portrayed to there still being a resistance and a wannabe galactic empire 
like cmon where's the innovation the prequels were str8 dawg shyt but at least they tried to do something new and expand the universe you know its bad when you'd rather them make a star wars old republic movie and focus on that era instead of this sequel trilogy bullshyt with Crylo Ren Ma'rey sue and Finn the kunta kinte of star wars smfh
