You see, this speaks of another tremendous problem on this web site, people assuming things about cops that they conjure in their head without actual facts to back their assumptions. Actually, everyone in my academy had other careers before switching to police work.

Anyway, I always wanted to be a cop since I was a kid. Other kids want to become a fireman or astronaut. Opportunity never arose in the past as I was looking at other career ambitions.

Please, I personally know 3 people who randomly became cops once all else failed.same thing with a couple teachers I know.

Those jobs attract low achieving types in my experience
