Seems like she and the husband had some financial issues and she was using money that wasnt technically hers yet to float her.

Because people are easily swayed when they have legal problems or legal issues. Thinking that their lawyer will be the next Johnnie or Johnette Cochran. BigLaw represents for a lot of these corporations, committees and companies, that are against the "everyday person" so there's a lot of conflict of interest going on for people who choose larger law firms. Boutique law firms are more personable and attentive (supposed to be, anyway).

I also think that the optics of a Black female attorney representing him was a P.R. move for the public and for the jury.
She HAD to have been a top notch lawyer for Cosby to have chosen her though. His freedom was at stake, after all.

Being a "public figure" is the least of her concerns - she's about to have her source of financial income cut off. Disbarred mean that literally take away her "Bar Card" which is a license to practice law which can affect her practicing in other states. It's called Reciprocity - technically she might be permitted to practice in another state but it's not automatic and no guarantees. An attorney has to be in good standing with their home states in order to practice law in another state. Her allegations involves crimes of moral turpitude. She would have to notify and disclose her background and standing to the next state where she plans to work, and it's up to them to see if she can have a legal practice within that state.
