Facts

U wont ever know until you drop it.

I know Epic had big plans for Mike Jack, but NO ONE knew that first album or 2nd would have so many monstrous hits. they knew the guy was a star and put the right team around him but timing is also crucial for a hit. Mike hit at the right time with that first joint because Friday Night Videos had just hit the scene. Videos revolutionized the industry and a lot of hits came about simply from the aid of videos.

Could be hard to tell... I mean when do you know its a hit? When you hear the beat and its dope as fukk? When you or whoever helpin you lay down the bomb ass hook? When the whole song is finished?

Remember this?

Obviously the beat wasnt enough

Till this lil unknown ass nikka came outta nowhere and rapped on it

Obviously the dance made it viral and it prolly wouldnt have blown up without a video and them dancin but you get my point

Dmx didn't like the ruff Ryder anthem and refused to rap over at first, he had to be convinced, but he still don't like the song.

Havoc was about to delete the beat to shook ones part 2 before rapping over it

yeah, and lets not forget about all the beats/lyrics that were turned down and became hits. someone else was supposed to record My, My, My and didnt show up for the session and Babyface gave it to Gill which catapulted his career. this is just one example out of literally a million. sometimes the right person is needed too. like some artists are better writers and producers than artists so they give their work to others who naturally they would big bigger with.

T.I. knew "about the money" was a hit as soon as him and Thug finished recording it. He shot the video and put it out the same week they recorded because he knew he had one

Don't they market songs to be "hits".

They should know, unless shyt blows up unexpectedly. Or unless they suck and it underperforms
