its still a good idea imo lol
as far as guns go, the toothpaste is out of the tube. sure you can make your own ammo, but most people arent gonna bother. ammo is somewhat traceable, and guns are useless without it, so legislation targeting ammunition and putting limits on how much you can buy at once/possess could feasibly work
of course, the gun lobby would throw an absolute shyt-fit if you said any of this, but it could work if done sensibly.
i dont think it really matters at this point. we have an empathy problem more than anything. if there's no bullets, someone will just pistol whip someone to death when they run out of bullets.
lol and people wonder why the gun violence rates are so high, particularly in texas and alabama

I buy all my ammo in Wisconsin. They rarely ask for any identification.
