Reading these kind of threads and the replys always confirm to me how powerful and dangerous marketing/advertising is because it brainwashes folks to be lazy in their rational, all while the same victims of being brainwash would argue about music..."bu bu it's just entertainment"
Hov / Nas has rap/spoken about various topics over the years. But more importantly, they have made conscious efforts to make a clear distinction between being in the booth / outtah the booth because they recognize that the energy/message they put to the world is powerful enough
-to influence action/thought processes
-to be used as a propaganda tool to prove why certain cultures foster negativity/violence
Instead of "fans" having multiple standards that you apply to different rappers, how about one standard...be entertaining and responsible
No more, allowing rappers to be reckless in and outtah the booth so that they could make money off of promoting stereotypical behavior, while ignoring the impact that has socially
You could be reckless in the booth, talk about a mass murder of sheep you did, while fighting an intergalactic species that look like elephants. But once you're outside the booth, be responsible and not continue to promote BS while conveniently ignoring the social dynamics and fawked up conditions some people are living
Rappers promoting, in and outtah the booth, being a street terrorist are themselves the enemy, just like institutional racism
