Not only can you do both, but people vary in how they learn. Not everyone is going to learn by experimenting, some would be better learning by reading.
Either way having access to both can't be viewed as anything but a positive.

what im trying to say is, its better to delevelop your own and system of learning...because once u master it ....it wont be work anymore....
bro tuts are ok...but its harder to retain that information, because the teacher is using their own personal style, that work for THEM...u gotta find what works for u, because its no longer work once u do.....once u create a stystem u can work a crazy pacelmao Unless you are 8 and have all day to tinker around listening is going to be a huge part of learning. Can never be too proud to learn from others
why do u think future and gucci mane and make so many songs....its all system.........they're not on google like "how do u say an ablib ?"
its about systems tho, think about it...how do they put out so much music? they figured out their own style, and now its so easy...they can like 10 songs a day.....thats why i rather go through the pain of self learning, because when u master it....it becomes second nature
You're not thinking about all the other people that go into branding that trap sound though. For instance, Mike Will is a classically trained pianist. Plus if you already know your shyt, you're not going to need any tutorial. But if you want to start on something then it's good to get the fundamentals at least.
or you can try and learn Pro Tools from scratch without any guidance. but don't get mad when you're 40 by the time you get anywhere
Learn to code offer javascript for free and a bunch of other languages as well. There is another site but I can't think of the name. I will edit if I remember.

You may or may not know this but,
LinkedIn is doing a week long promotion of it's online class service, which is basically just Lynda.com service that they acquired a while back -- its free for a week until 10/30.
Which means all of the classes, videos and exercise files are absolutely 0 until the end of 10/30. the only requirement is that you have to be a linked in member, which is free and takes 10 minutes to sign up if you haven't already
But here's where it gets good cuz
They didn't lock or diasble their video files from simply being downloaded by your browser, whether this was intentional or not idk
So you can simply go to a video, say this one

when the video starts, simply right click, go to "save video as", and download the video
The process is a bit tedious but I've downloaded 42 classes since yesterday when I found out.
I probably will be paying for their service since their tutorials are so helpful, but for those who don't have the money, and are trying to get into something like, say, software development, I've found lynda to be an invaluable resource because thorough programming tutorials aren't the easiest to find
