I'm fairly tuned in to fashion, rolling to Magic and other shows, knowing actual designers in the industry. Kanye is not respected because his clothing is ugly and lacks craftsmanship. My opinion is shared the industry over. But be a hypebeast and defend him, breh.

And as far as being "basic," I like being minimal. You'll find that minimal and basic fashion design is actually preferred by those with taste and class.

Yeah, hired to fetch coffee and donuts. Whatever, fam. You act as if the connections he's built along the way while making music hasn't opened doors for him. And that's great, but it doesn't mean I like anything he produces, thus far (which is key, since he may mature as a designer and actually get a grasp of construction and materials that results in releases I'd actually pay money for). I'd love to support a black fashion designer, but I won't do it just because they're black, especially when they make the crap he does. He should take cues from Jay and his Paper Planes brand, which is picking up steam and actually has some clean releases.
