I did it right in front of them. That ONE that knew about it just happens to be the one paying attention and saw it. She didnt mind at first. She just asks first when we talk. I been working with her for 3 years and she alsways asks "are you taping me?" lol

I hate when I am talking to somebody at work on IM and then see "this conversation is being saved"

Them : Hey can you take a look at why this customers vlans are not showing up

Me: Sure whenever I get a chance

Them : Thanks

Literally, at me current job, whenever someone does this, I never ever respond to them in IM chat again, and I very rarely respond to them in email...I force them to come talk to me face to face...in which they never bring a notepad...

In a work environment...that comes off as a straight bytch move to me...t comes off as you just trying to collect evidence against someone in case some shyt goes south so that you can cover your ass...the problem I have with this is that the cover your ass people i have dealt with never ever do any real work...they spend 8 hours a day covering there ass

I just found out my co workers are so annoyed when i do that

We had a team meeting this morning and we were all airing it out about shyt others do in the office and when on the road that we would like to stop mainly because we had a few mishaps over the past few months because of lack of consistency with how we do things.

Then came my turn and they were like

• M - hmmm <intruder>... i have no beef with you. Typically always do things per documentation
• T - Yeah you good in my book. Just that jinx of natural disasters you have follow you on the road. Earthquake and fire in Costa Rica in 2011. Snow storm in Poland. I personally didnt want you on the Columbia project cause i didnt want no problems. LOL
• A - You escalae shyt too quickly sometimes. But other wise you good.
• L - that shyt you do when we talk. Like... you record our conversations. STOP IT
• M and A - You record us????
• Me - Only conversations that have information i need like how to do certain things. The minute i get the procedure down on paper or typed up i deleted
• M- Dude! You know thats illegal right?
• A- Nah dude i'm gonna need you to let me know when you are doing this. Have you ever recorded me?
• Me - Yeah that time when you thought me how to build that pearl script for the migration project using xml.
• A - WTF???

its not a good look and the intent might be lost and offensive...

just say you take good notes or make it a point to have a note bad if you have to capture "ALL" details...

I actually had a friend who did this (we're not friends anymore). He would always bring up crazy shyt I said years ago and laugh at it hysterically (I used to be very depressed and suicidal). He was the worst possible friend anyone can have.

I only save chatlogs and shyt of people when it's something hilarious or whatever. But people usually do not like being recorded because it makes them self conscious. Knock that shyt off.

In some states it IS illegal if you don't inform the person of it.

Basically, you have recorded people without telling them, and then you expect them to believe you that all you have is work related stuff?
