i only say tyler perry cuz he seems to be the only black man that has the ability to direct,produce, and fund his own movies

spike lee has a hard time funding movies esp the ones with controversial topics

why you say will tho? i can see his case being made honestly

I think the fact that will gets 20-25 mil per film, 10-20% of the gross, he's a producer on almost all of his films, plus he was able to have his son star in a leading role for the karate kid(which will also produced, and has made probably close to 10 mil by now)

I don't think a all black cast horror film would be too entertaing for non black folks.

Look at Halloween Resurrection for example, the two black dudes in the movie tried to shoot the fair one with Micheal Myers, keep in mind most people think that most black men are these super tough type dudes.

In the white community its more exceptble for a man to be all // or to run when the killer in a horror movie is trying to kill them.

They really did try to throw hands with Mike.

Yep. Probably the same reason why pop-influenced/club-based hip-hop takes priority over lyrical shyt on the radio...or why a lot of R&B singers make the pop switch. Why make it if it's not going to sell?

As much as it pains me to say, most black people don't want to see those sort of movies and those that do don't want to see ones with poor production values.

That's why so many black movies are hood/comedy/romance. You really only have to pay for actors and locations. No stunts, special F/X etc. And when you're on a budget, that matters.

Of course it hasn't stopped Uganda from having a robust straight to DVD market.

I'm talking about a feature silver screen horror/si-fi/thriller/action film with a black cast.
