Yet Another Race Thread: Topic Black Movies

I don't think a all black cast horror film would be too entertaing for non black folks.

Look at Halloween Resurrection for example, the two black dudes in the movie tried to shoot the fair one with Micheal Myers, keep in mind most people think that most black men are these super tough type dudes.

In the white community its more exceptble for a man to be all // or to run when the killer in a horror movie is trying to kill them.

i remember seeing that as a kid cheering for the black nikka

until he knocked that nikka head off i almost cried

I'm just imagining how things would have been so different if he was alive today.

I mean he would have been in so many movies including baby boy.

If he was still around, he would probably have been on "The Wire" playing either the Omar, Marlo role or maybe Avon.

Again, Action films = terribly high budgets. Thriller = Horror. Same thing. Generally not a black audience for this.

I know plenty of blk ppl that enjoy horror/scifi/thriller films as much as they enjoy action/comedys.

And hollywood is always taking chances with movies.

If it made money, they would be glad to invest...

Tyler Perry was returning money 5 times fold because we like to see the chitlin circuit on the big screen, and its a monetary fact..

However, Red Tails, The Great Debaters, Red Hook, Miracle at St. Anna, Anwone Fisher , Hotel Rwanda, etc, all hit the theatres first and did not pop until they hit DVD.

They were straight losers on the screens and that's why Hollywood will not heavily invest unless its some type of buffoonery that we've demonstrated we'll support in mass...

It's amazing when someone like tariq nasheed took a risk to make an independent horror movie coming out next year called "the eugenist" while tyler perry can't even try other genres.

Tyler has the funds, hire some good writers/cinematographers and produce other kind of movies.

His religious fan base will still support anything with tyler perry presents, dude doesn't want to take any risks.

Now hold up

Here me out, as a young black adult, growing up the movies I preferred to watch were horror,sifi, action/adventure, mystery type of movies. Only issue is, these movies rarely ever had a full black cast or at least 1 black character in it.

Yet movies about drama, issues plaguing the black community, depressing bios etc. were plentiful....Now wait, I dont have any issues with these types of movies being made because I am aware of the many struggles that existed (and still do) with our ancestors and grandparents etc in this world.

But why isnt there many movies made with a full black cast in genres like horrors, sifis, action/adventure, and mystery type movies made?

the black community do not support those movies and the people who watch those movies may not watch because of the all black cast.

i only say tyler perry cuz he seems to be the only black man that has the ability to direct,produce, and fund his own movies

spike lee has a hard time funding movies esp the ones with controversial topics
