My ole lady is Geechie/Gullah. Roots right there in Beaufort, SC. Her grandma and mom still got that accent, and when she gets upset, you can hear it on her. My daughter is with her grandma often, so I can tell she’s picking up some of that lol

My dad was born in Dayton, Ohio but his mother (my grandma) I believe was born in Alabama but moved to Ohio, it's been awhile since I've asked but I know she rarely speaks on her life in Alabama and seems to embrace Ohio as her home.
My mom is from NYC born and raised but her mother which is my grandma who've I've never met (and to this day have no clue what she looked like) as she passed away a long time ago way before I was born, she was hit and run during her mid-40s crossing the street in NYC she got hit by an electric company van that came speeding from around a corner. She was from South Carolina but moved to New York City in the early 50s and that's where she gave birth to my mother and her brothers (which are my uncles).
Basically my family has ties to Alabama, Ohio, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and NYC. There might be another state or two with family ties but those are family members who are more distant with little to no connection with to me/us let alone that we exist.
