How is it "personal accountability" when the NFL LIED to the players (and public)? It's like your boss telling you its okay to work at a particular cubicle since it's only "cement" on the wall. 10 years later you got lung cancer thanks to the asbestos and people are telling you "well you should've KNOWN what asbestos looked like". :what:

Nah, NFL's gotta take more responsibility and the help the players out.

It's personal accountability because how do you grow up watching & playing this game and NOT have one iota of common sense to realize that you're putting your body through a meat grinder? And that it gets worse the higher the level you play at? These guys are that stupid where the NFL has to do EVERYTHING for them? And we wonder why these morons can't function at all without the game and the adoration of screaming sycophants.

Well they were too stupid to follow a normal career path that would have them more dependent on their brain than their bodies and save themselves from the meat grinder, so I guess I've answered that question. It's not until they're going through what the players before them were talking about that they wanna have regrets. Gimme a break. He played 7, SEVEN, years... after his first 2 or 3 he didn't realize the business aspect of the league and how it runs? Whether he did or not, you know what he then did? Signed up for 4-5 more years of work on his little imaginary "plantation."

As for your comparison, if you've been sitting in a crappy cubicle along the wall for 10 years, well, maybe during those ten years you should have worked harder for a promotion or found a job somewhere else that perhaps could have given you an office or better working conditions. Not to mention, it's not like we as kids sit around for hours on weekends watching office workers suffer through asbestos poisoning, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. With sports, we fans SEE the injuries in real time right in front of our faces. In 1991 & 1992 I was 12 & 13, respectively. In '91 I saw Mike Utley get flipped on his head and in '92 I saw Dennis Byrd slam his head into Scott Mersereau's stomach, resulting in paralysis for both. You know what conclusion a 12 & 13 year old me came to after seeing that? "Damn, this is one dangerous game that can really hurt you." Then in 1993 I started playing and wasn't done until 2002. And I loved every minute of it.

Lastly, as for the NFL helping these guys out, well looks to me like they get well compensated with a load of money that can be invested and if handled properly can grow to take care of them post-retirement. But you wanna take that money, live the luxurious pampered life, get involved with shady business dealings (which tend to occur because these idiots didn't want to research what they were putting their money into), take care of the homeboys, have children all over the place, not save or worry about tomorrow because "it's all good, the NFL got me after I retire," then you wanna cry foul because a business is taking care of itself and its future the way you should have been taking care of yourself and your future?

Oh, I must have forgot, these guys get nothing but chitlins and fat-back at night in their quarters since they're slaves on a plantation.

Cry me the Mississippi.

What part of "the NFL LIED to the players" do you not understand? What job do you work where your boss lies to you about the consequences of your job and you're cool with it?

:upsetfavre:way this brother slangin curses, shouldve focused harder

I get that he's mad at the NFL (:deadhorse: get in line) for not doing enough but he sounds mentally unstable, loaded up on painkillers and codeine in that rant. Contemplating suicide? :dwillhuh:

Inshallah he finds some peace / acceptance

I was reading the tweets and wondering "is he about to committ that?" :dwillhuh:

Insha'Allah he can get what he's looking for.

looks he ain't gettin them game checks no more

all these NFL nikkas act like this once they out the league....yet to see one of them go in when they are actually still relevant

He quit and all of a sudden has these issues. Don't bytch about it on twitter unless you have proof they refuse to help you.

It's all man-child, baby boy nonsense when these guys turn around and bite the hand that fed them well on some "pity for me" BS. They want sympathy for putting themselves through this, and I can't believe there are fans out there who fall for this crap. But that's the 21st century American male I guess. Let's wear pink, be hyper-emotional, and eschew personal accountability because I'll have fans who'll defend my stupidity.

So wait, lemme get this straight, in one of his tweets, he claims he was concussed but the NFL put it out there that he got poked in the eye. I'm sure he heard of things like this from teammates as well. So instead of saying "to hell with this, this lying ass league don't care about the welfare of my body" and leave and go into an industry that would care more for his welfare, he stayed in the NFL for seven seasons. Yet it's not until there's no more NFL checks coming in to cash that it's time to take a stand against all this dishonesty?

Dude was lied to, probably repeatedly, yet went back year after year to go pick more cotton.

What part of HYPOCRITE & LACK OF PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY do you not understand?
