I always thought that the beef with Elvis was that he got a lot of his success due to white privilege more so than him actually being racist himself.

this....elvis got flack from blacks not because of something racist he did/said, but because he became the main face for the appropriation of their music which lead to countless other whites benefiting from the same process. Elvis himself though, always gave props to his black influences and patronized the spaces those same blacks that influenced him, lived/came from
