I can confirm this. I taught English in Japan, and I lasted only half a school year. The work culture is so toxic. You are expected to stay and work overtime for no extra pay. Plus everyone is extremely polite in your face, but will snitch on you behind your back worse than cacs. Also, the drinking and cigarettes are way more rampant there than here. They had these work parties, which you were also expected to attend. All of these teachers would get sloppy drunk, and it was fully expected. It is also extremely commonplace to see salarymen passed out on the train, or in the street, in their business suits.

Nowadays in Japan they give you overtime but you have a shyt base salary so essentially they force you to work ot.

lol, UPS and FedEx workers work 60-70 hours a week at least.

You're right about that position. That's pretty much an entry-level position you're speaking of. They have certain positions that they are only trying to work part-time. I actually got called for a entry-level driver job last year at Fed-Ex that they only wanted to work between 4-5 hours 3-4 days a week or something like that. Couldn't take that when I had other options..... Full-time workers in a city somewhere wish they had a little more time off, but do it because of the pay at the moment. I'm working with another company now as a CDL driver that does the same thing UPS Freight and FedEx Freight does. I work around 47-50 hours a week. That's on the low end.

I use to work 12 hours shifts , wake up at 5 am , get off and drive home thru traffic for 30 mins

Welcome to the workforce. But for real, that 9 to 5 is for the birds. Let your money work for you. Plus a set salary or hourly wage is bs, not no real money in it for most jobs.

Only way people really making bread off a job is living quite below their means and stacking their paper.

By 30 I expect to have my money working for me so I won’t be working no got damn 9 to 5.

It’s gonna take time outside of your 9 to 5 for years to get there though.
