the irony is I haven’t lived in NY for 17 years yet I lived there for all of these events and can even remember exactly where I was for 3 of them when I first heard the news/knew what was happening (9/11, biggie’s death and blackout)…so this is really not a good litmus test…that being said brooklyn born and raised 30 years strong and my accent still hits…women still point out my accent to me…I never had a dude mention it even tho some can probably pick up on it too

I was around for all those things, but I don't remember Biggie's death nor Ether vs Takeover. I didn't start paying attention to Hip Hop until 50 came out with GRODT.



My earliest memories of Pac and Biggie, they was already dead.



I have memories of news stories talking about 93 bombing before 9/11 happened.



I remember both the Green Bus Lines early 05 strike and the MTA strike late 05, was effected by both.



50 Cent first two albums was a big deal in NYC too, I still remember little kids hustling hard selling the bootleg of The Massacre on Jamaica Ave while Piggy Bank was playing I remember basically the entire GRODT album got played on Hot 97, even G Unit mixtape remixes.
