At my fam functions, everyone gets they own plate unless they too old to be moving around. I wouldn't even want her to get my plate, I be mad as hell when someone makes me a plate & it aint got the right amounts of food

Everyone usually makes their own plate. If you've never been there before I'll normally tell my guests to come with me to get a plate because I don't know what they want, if they'll like certain things, how much, etc. If you're uncomfortable I'll get you a plate, but prepare to be roasted by everybody

If I brought her over it's cuz she already knows my family and in their eyes she's wifey, she served me my plates when ever I went over to her house and did the same when she came to my fams party, it's sort of a custom in Hispanic families tho
