Telling on people for no reason is always snitching behavior no matter what walk of life you come from.

but i don't consider it snitching if some regular non criminal dude calls the cops or presses charges against somebody commiting a crime against them.

Its when they go karen status and call cops on people for fishing in a privately owned lake or something that its still snitching.

I think this concept applies more to “no snitching”

The act of snitching itself is how op describes it.

But when we are talking about the street code of “no snitching” i think it mostly refers to not snitching on your co-conspirators or enemies and handling it in the streets as you described it here.

When it comes to black people there’s a general distrust in talking to the police. So while i don’t think it fits the “no snitching” street code. People in the black community who work with the police a generally frowned upon because 9 times outa 10 the act of working with police does not turn out good results for the community.

Right in that ppl telling on you for minor infractions that don’t affect them is snitching like Karens complaining or someone telling HR you took an unauthorised leave of absence because they’re jealous.

But if someone robs you or attacks you or your family and you’re not in the streetlife and you tell the cops and testify that certainly ain’t snitching
