There's some truth to it from what I've found in various dealings with folk.
Generally, I've typically felt that you need a complementary yet opposite sign for optimal effect. We as people need different perspectives.
Not to say same-sign stuff can't work, though. Depends on the sign. Like they say Taurus folk (like myself) match well with other Taurus folk, but who knows?
