Many look pretty white to me. :manny:

At what point is someone Brown just becuase they have dark hair and eyes. There are people in Europe with dark hair and eyes and they are still considered white. I don't understand. If they look white and self identify as white I don't understand why they can't be white.

Syrian President Assad looks white.

These dudes police whiteness more than whites themselves.

Mena category, which means the "Middle East and North Africa"

I am assuming you one of those in America, that don't know much geography beyond the United States or worst local area. LOL

No. I know what MENA is, I was alluding to the ethnic/racial category they will fall under.

Right now, everyone from MENA is categorised as white in the US. If they were to regroup under a unique ethnicity, what would it be? Would the Berbers in Algeria who don't like being called "Arabs" allow that? How about the different Black African tribes all over North Africa?

Arabs come in different shapes and colors. Some are white, some are brown and some are black.

Actually it is Mena, think of it like the "hispanic" category which encompass many different people of different ethnic, religious and racial background.

On Friday, the White House Office of Management and Budget advanced the proposal with a notice in the Federal Register, seeking comments on whether to add Middle Eastern and North African as a separate racial or ethnic category, which groups would be included, and what it should be called.

Under the proposal, the new Middle East and North African designation — or MENA, as it's called by population scholars — is broader in concept than Arab (an ethnicity) or Muslim (a religion). It would include anyone from a region of the world stretching from Morocco to Iran, and including Syrian and Coptic Christians, Israeli Jews and other religious minorities.

But the Census Bureau, which has been quietly studying the issue for two years, also has gotten caught up in debates about some groups — such as Turkish, Sudanese and Somali Americans — who aren't included in that category. Those are issues the White House is trying to resolve before adding the box on 2020 census forms.

With some people or the American society, it may be problematic.

White House wants to add new racial category for Middle Eastern people

It's very problematic because Africa is going to be further divided and made smaller.

And are Somalis also clamouring to be part of this group? If so, that's troubling.

Also, what's your opinion about it as a Sudanese?

The original inhabitants of Arabian peninsula used to be black. You'd be surprised that Qatar and Oman have a lot of indigenous black people and I believe some of royal families in those countries are black.

I'm talking to a chick now who defines her self as African Arab, but not white

They seems real up bent about that shyt

The whole thing is complicated. It is funny how you can be Chinese, Indonesian, Pakistani, or Indian but still get grouped under Asian.

However, when it comes to African identity - we don't have that luxury, hence more and more people are denying their blackness.

False 90% of the country is black... yes you have coptics who are of Egyptian and Turkish origin who have taken the nationality but for the most part Sudanese people, are black the same way white south africans are not african they just reside there. And yes a lot of people are not 100% black the same way alot of African Americans are not 100% black because there was a lot of mixing with Arabs. So called"Arab" tribes Jaelien and Shaqiya are almost indistinguishable from your average East African to a casual observer.

I know all about this I'm Sudanese. Come see for yourself instead of just watching western news for information. The country was called the Land of the Blacks for a reason( by Imperialist cacs yea I know:snoop:).

And the reason I came down so hard on the poster is OP has shown his picture you can clearly see his he's black and that idiot is calling him an Arab.

Thanks for furthering my point. I didn't say anything about how blk or not blk the Sudan was, I just pointed out that, it's an ethnicity.
