Don’t many Asian/immigrant parents tell their kids they gonna be doctors, not grasshopper reproduction? Don’t many higher social classes put their kids in ballet, piano lessons, etc and it allows those kids and Families to network with each other

You want to get dumb people to do anything, tell them rich people do it.

If you sit around and watch Netflix. So will they.

If you sit down with a book. So will they.

If you do active things like workout, play sports. So will they.

It's not just a one time thing. "They saw me read once, they never sat down and picked up a book".

You do what you do more than you tell them or guide them what to do. They learn more by what's going on in your lifestyle.

Most kids will take an interest in some physical sport, some instrument so it shouldn't be challenging.

when they are old enough to develop a passion, yes, but in the early years ~3/4-10, you do need to try to introduce them to a variety of things (a sport or martial art, a visual or performing art, an instrument, a practical skill - scouts, cooking, woodworking, electronics). but yea, you shouldn't just be picking football and beating that into them despite indifference to relive your failed football career

Parents find it easiest to stick a tablet in their kid's hand. Parents worry less when their kid is where they can see them. Because of that, they their interests stem from the tablet.

I’m not arguing the cause of why they became like that. Now if you want to argue that the reason is because parents are lazier, then that’s possible but that’s a different discussion. However, aside from the proof in the numbers we can use our own anecdotal evidence to show the lack of interest in not only physical activities compared to before, but the arts as well.

We weren’t “steered” into sports growing up. It was our own interest, often against our parents wishes. My boy is going through this very thing right now with his son and daughter.
