Hammer was a one hit/album wonder and he was wack as fukk.
How many sold out arena tours did he have? :mjlol:

We got rappers headlining traditional rock festivals like Glastonbury and shyt now. Presidents and candidates meeting with rappers for promotion, playing their songs at the white house and shyt.

3 hit mulltiplatinum albums ...several hit singles...and a roughly 5 year run of producing hit after hit after hit...out of those 3 hit albums, one which was the highest selling international rap album of all-time (outside of Eminem's shyt) you goddamn right he could sell out arenas at his peak. :what:

He was in that tier just below MJ at the height of his success....still top 5 all-time in overall record sales to this day...if you wasn't alive and cognitive back then, you just ain't gonna get it. :ld:

But who's really got Hammer ANYWHERE NEAR MJ'S LEVEL OF POP CULTURE DOMINANCE? :mjlol:. The nikka was hot and relevant during that time nothing really timeless.

I'll take my L, I didn't know that he had 3 successful albums. I thought he had one Diamond and then followed up with one that went around platinum I must've been thinking about Vanilla Ice.

But in any event his reign on the top was 3 years? That's like the length of Fetty Wap's career next year.

There was about a 4 year period where he was the commercial and international face of rap...not even close to being comparable to somebody who ain't. :beli:

For context...Biggie & Pac only had one year a piece where they were the face of rap and the #1 draw. Snoop about 3. Reigns at the absolute top on a commercial level generally don't last that long.

Face of rap is exaggerating, his first album obviously moved units due to the second one being a smash. It peaked at #30 and has zero hits. so it was basically 90-91, him and Vanilla Ice, which is disgusting. Like Iggy Azelea and Florida being the biggest people in the game right now :mjlol:

Bruh get the hell out of here...Hammer had 6 major label albums, the first was double plat.
The second was 22x plat.
The thired was triple plat.
And then, the album everyone maligned him for, went plat.

So what do you mean he was a "one hit/album wonder"?

And he was on tour with Eazy-E at the height of NWA's fame. What are you saying?

Eazy-E was meeting with the president, too.

it's all been done, mayne...

MSG been getting sold out, and we used to set the fashion trends for everyone else, now we just copy europeans. Drake is the only legit Hiphop superstar of this generation and that's only really cause he doubles as a safe, singing popstar. Hiphop was a way bigger pop culture force 10+years ago then it is these days.
You right but u gotta realize that most these dudes are fucck boys that's why they think otherwise

Eazy was not invited to meet the president, he bought a ticket for members of the republican party and I've already discussed the rest above, incase you missed that.

Jay-z was the first person to sel out the garden, then some years later Eminem/50, then Bow Wow and after that it's been plenty of people (jay again, Ye, Drake, Cole and probably a few more). Lol at "been getting sold out".

Culturally hiphop is bigger than it's been internationally, what I experienced in Europe is crazy.
On a national scale it's obviously bigger than in the 90s, I'd say since the mid 2000s and onwards that's hiphop's biggest position in popular culture. Cats were not even invited to festivals but around that time we started getting nominated at the Oscar's and shyt without being white. Soundtracks for big Hollywood movies, even in movies without black actors like Gatsby. Mad endorsement deals, not just Sprite and brands exclusively promoted towards black people and on. Keys to cities, mayors bonding with rappers and all that shyt. While in the 90s they were trying their hardest to ban cats.
