Tbh I thought the Mc in Persona 3 hanging out with Maiko Oohashi much weirder than any of the bonds in Persona 5 from the protaginsts perspective. Like the dude goes to the park and talks to a girl by herself.

There's a few but they don't pop like high school anime. I don't think I've ever watched one, Death Note comes to mind where the main character Light starts the series as a senior in high school and then goes to university but the anime still falls in shonen (12-18y male demo.) territory. The work culture got them fukked up so they can't relate to adult protagonists like the West do.
