let me tell you what kendrick is about.... dope production, with dr. dre overseeing it.... dope flow..... dope voice change box
now you might take that as a slight diss... but i'm not hating or looking down... i'm dead serious
you start off most of his tracks and it's a dope ass beat... so you already hooking into most music fans right there.. i mean it's 50% of the song
then he starts rapping and you hear HOW he flows on those beats.... you gotta admit he's damn great with his cadence and bounce on the beats... you don't even have to know what he's saying, you just know it sounds good
then instead of most fast rappers... just rapping fast.... he switches up the way he sounds, adds a lot of effects to both his voice and the beat.... adds in a lot of extra shyt to it all... which also sounds dope.. plus he already has a distinct voice but you never get tired of it, cause it sounds different every 1-2 minutes
there's a reason you don't hear him on tracks with just a straight up voice, no additives... there's a reason this thread is gone this long, and nobody has been posting quotables... if you asked why nikkas followed canibus back then, it'd be filled with them... if you asked them why they thought nas was so deep, they'd be filled with them... but kendrick's bars, when written down, aren't that mind blowing....
"Told nikkas when I was 16 that I'd write a 16
To put a nikka right on the big screen
In the paddy wagon with 16, should have been in the pen
But then my pen write with morphine
I heal nikkas, touch down with more fiends
I kill nikkas, audio crack, khakis to meal ticket
Cardio lap, was running for dear life but now I'm running the map"
i mean these are the bars that had the internet saying he MURDERED jay-z on it.... what the fukk is actually saying that's so lyrical or deep or "wooooooooooooo that was hot" morphine don't even heal people
i heal nikkas, touch down with more fiends?? khakis to meal ticket?? cardio lap, now i'm running the map???
imagine jay saying this, in jay's voice, with jay's flow, on a ye beat.......... don't sound too interesting and super lyrical does it??
but add in a dre beat... a fast rapid flow where you think he saying more than he is... and some fades and echos and all the sudden its
all that being said... nobody else is doing those things... so he does have his own lane... but nikkas acting like he's god's gift who is personally saving the rap game with his year 3000 flow and lyrics are doing a little too much hyping
