Exactly. He trading 60 cash for 60 trade goods so technically the owner is still short of the $60. Now add the remains 40 from the 100 plus the change he gives him and how much is that? 140
the owner only gives him 40 in change cuz he overpaid for 60 in goods with 100 in cash

the thief only stole 100 cash
then got 60 in goods and 40 cash cuz he paid for 60 in goods with 100 in cash

the owner only lost 100 cuz simply selling shyt and giving people their change isn't a loss

He takes the hundred so you're at -100

He comes back and gives you back the hundred, you're at 0

You give him 60$ in merchandise and 40 dollars in change. You do the math.

no it makes no difference it's not an additional loss

he just traded for $60 in goods with $60 cash that's an even trade

the part where the storekeeper loses is when he loses $100 by theft

in reality selling $60 in goods for $60 cash lessens the loss since you're making money by selling stuff

which is why i said on first page, if your store doesn't sell a lot of shyt then the thief buying something sort of lessons the loss since he gave some of it back, giving you some profit

but if you're a busy store that's gonna sell that stuff regardless then you did lose the full $100, the fact that he bought something doesn't matter cuz the next man would've bought it anyway

Wait until OP comes in and makes u simple minded fools look dumb. There's a reason why he posted this
Op posted this because there are dumb mfers like you in this world that not only can't think logically but can't even admit when they're wrong. Look at your posts you've stopped even responding to the logical arguments and are now sitting by waiting and hoping for the OP to save your ass :russ::russ::russ:

You give him 60$ in merchandise and 40 dollars in change. You do the math.

-100(stolen money)
+60 (money back due to merchandise)
-60(merchandise loss. U can't make a profit off your own money. You're basically swapping the $60 in cash for the merchandise. This is where people get confused)
-40 (change given back)

-100+60-60-40= -140

That's why it's a trick question which is what I'm getting at. U can get a totally different answer writing it out as a math variable in a different way which most of these questions require u to do so. I said my piece so I'm off to sleep. Just gotta wait for OP to reply

you got 100 money back not 60

you act like the thief paid for 60 in merch with 60, then you gave him 40 change back that he doesn't even deserve

Where is this +60 from stolen merchandise coming from? You're over thinking this.

He basically comes in and robs the place and asks for a PS4 game and 40 bucks. The fact that he stole the 100 dollars is irrelavant since he gives it back.
