This is my first and last post in this hornet's nest of a thread, but I just wanted to remind you guys...the OP didn't mention proper grammar.

My english non-fiction writing professor actually said this to me in a class where I was the only black guy in it...I found it so ignorant and always have...he wasn't the first...I heard it all the time growing up. When I would visit my relative in St. Croix my cousins would say my voice sounded funny...

I can't help that I'm a product of my environment. And that is of an Nigerian/West Indian black male that grew up in the suburbs and went to private catholic schools.

I actually am the master of several tone of voices and ways of talking now. Sometimes I talk really proper, sometimes I talk really hood and use the n word, sometimes I talk with a southern drawl, sometimes I talk with a kind of cockney/english accent from spending a good amount of time in the UK when I was younger, sometimes I talk like a fresh off the boat foreigner...

Bottom line is... I'm just a weirdo.

This... Call it ignorant or whatever but you are fooling yourself if you cant tell the difference between a white person voice and a black person.. It has nothing to do with proper grammer. I can usually tell after hearing a couple of words. Its not 100% but i'll be more right than wrong.
