I know you want me to say slang or something?lol. But no, we tend to have deeper tones to our voices which has zero to do with pronouce a word.
For example, if i were to play a clip of a animated movie, you wouldnt have *some* idea that the voice of that person is black or white? You would honestly say I have no clue what so ever?
Im on conference calls at least once a week, I tend to picture the people im talking to and when i finally meet or see a picture of them im rarely wrong. You couldnt tell if you were on the phone with a black female vs a white one?
I used to think so until I went to north georgia and realized the people I thought were black were actually white. :bryantshrug:
I have a westcoast accent so I sound neutral. Kurupt and E40 dont have a southern draw, we have a little bit of nasal tone when we say water, mark, buster.
Im a cameleon tho, I change the way I sound subconsciously based on my surrounding. all humans do this tho, you dont talk to your parents the same way you talk to your boys. even the tone and pitch changes. you ever catch yourself talking different when talking to a toddler? humans try to find common ground when communicating. white people use slang they dont typically use, its not to mock you, its all subconscious. finding that common ground, you adapt to what you're listening too.
